Maremma Region

A trip to Tuscany wouldn’t be complete without experiencing its rich culture of winemaking, where vines have been cultivated an estimated three thousand years! La Pescaia is located within a south-western coastal region known as Maremma. While there are plenty of wineries in Tuscany to visit, below you will find details for a few highly rated options within 1 hour or less of the wedding venue.

Maremma primarily features mineral forward, fruity whites and rosés reminiscent of wines from Provence and Bordeaux inspired red blends. This region was also the first to produce what is now known as "Super Tuscan" wine by blending local grape varietals with international ones in the 1970s. Many Maremma wineries feature stunning modern architecture designed to highlight the unique terroir of the region.

Planning Your Tour

We recommend inquiring via email or booking on the website for any wineries you are interested in touring or having a meal at. Tastings are usually possible via walk-in, but can often be booked in advance as well. If you are not renting a car for your trip, we recommend pre-arranging a driver service as taking taxis can be difficult outside the main cities. Click here for more information on transport options.

Apart from the nearby larger cities of Florence and Rome, there are plenty of things to do in the area surrounding La Pescaia without going too far. From stunning beaches to historic towns and villages, below are a few options to explore the region if you plan to extend your stay.
